Frequently Asked Questions Who joins NOPT? Membership of the organisation is as an individual. Membership is open to all of those who are involved in practice teaching and with an interest in social work education. A member is entitled to one vote in the election of the Committee. The group comprises professionals engaged in different aspects of practice teaching and practice learning. The organisation subscribes to the belief that practice teaching plays a major part in meeting the changing needs of social work education and training. How is NOPT organised? The NOPT constitution requires the organisation to set up a management committee which seeks membership through a democratic electoral process. How much does it cost? The current membership fees are £30 pa, for full voting membership, reduced workshop fees and all mailings; OR £53 pa for the above, plus one year’s subscription to Social Work Education. The year runs from 1st January to 31st December. An application for membership should be in writing on the appropriate form, (obtainable from the administrator or committee member). What about associate membership? Regional, sub-regional and local groups of practice teachers will be entitled to associate membership of NOPT, through an application to the organisation for this status. The associate group should forward it’s title and the name and address of a link person to the NOPT Administrator by 30th June, in each year. The link person should hold individual membership of NOPT. The use of the phrase "Associated with the National  Organisation for Practice Teaching" in their title. The services of management committee members to speak at and support group events, subject to the negotiation of time, travel and resources. Representation: The opportunity to nominate a member to the management committee. Concessionary membership rate for one member of the group, in addition to the link member, at the annual workshop and other events. |
